Sagip Kalikasan Visitation - July 3, 2010

E-mail Print PDF

Last Saturday, July 3, 2010, VW Joel C. Laserna, District Deputy Grand Master, together with VW Glenn R. Polinar, District Grand Lecturer and some brethren of our District went to visit our Sagip Kalikasan tree planting site in New Loon, Mintal.

The one hectare land area is owned by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region XI, and last year, MDRXI-A, under the leadership of VW Jose A. Lim III, PDDGM, adopted the area and planted some hardwood plants, and we called the site "FREEMASON'S FOREST PARK" (FPP).

During the visitation we met with the caretaker, Mr. Desiderio F. Bendanillo.  He is a local resident in the area, and was hired by DENR to watch over FPP and their other properties within the vicinity.  We were also accompanied by Forester Rodrigo B. Balmocena, Chief of Ecosystems Research and Development Division of the DENR-RXI.  Most of the trees we planted last year survived, and some of it that did not were replaced by Mr. Bendanillo with new seedlings.  We have a good number of Narra and Lauan trees, and some Kamagong as well.

In attendance were: VW Danilo G. Siquioco, District Council Secretary, Bro. SW Luisito B. Fortich of Sarangani Lodge No. 50, WM Joseph Michael C. Sapaula and Bro. JW Javey Paul D. Francisco both of Datu Bago Lodge No. 197.
